Final PAT - Last Chance to pass

Well it's been 6 months (or more) since my last post.

Basically:

  • I retested my PAT in December 2009 and passed
  • I was then told my application couldn't proceed as I had been given more than two goes at the PAT
  • I appealed on the basis of inconsistencies of information about my progress
  • The decision to stop my recruiting process was overturned, and I was given "one last chance" to do the PAT (although I had already passed it ..?)

So, after that pretty stressful process I was re-booked to do my PAT today.

The day dawned wet, windy and cold in Tauranga. Rotorua was wetter, windier and colder, plus the sulphur smell was very strong. At least the wind was dissipating it somehwhat.

I ran the 2.4kms, and did 10.47. Still over the 10.15 I have been aiming for, but well within the 12.15 I am allowed for my age and it's also under the 10.51 allowed for under 20 year olds (apparently the Western BOP recruiters cannot enforce their benchmark 10.15).

I did 42 press ups. The reqirement was 34 and I just did 34 in December so I was happy with that.

I jumped 59cms higher than my standing reach and had to beat 48cms so that's a pass too.

I achieved a combined grip of 104kgs, the pass rate is 96kgs.

So, now I wait for details of my final medical, which Police pay for. Until I get "the letter" I'll be on tenderhooks!
