PAT, SCOPE & PCT

I thought I'd combine the acronyms all in one post.

It's been a real busy 10 days.

First off I participated in a PAT in Rotorua 7 October. I beat my last time of 10.37 and achieved 10.20 for the 2.4k run. A pass for my age but not good enough for the BOP standard of 10.15. I finished in the top half of the pack so I was happy with that but very disappointed that I was 5 seconds short. I'll train up over the next few months and sit again in the New Year. The result hasn't prevented me from moving forward thank god.

Next I went on SCOPE on 10 and 11 October. Friday was a long day, working till 5pm then with Police till 3.30am. Back home for some shut-eye then back at Police on Saturday at 10pm and worked through till 7.40am Sunday. I enjoyed the whole experience immensely and it proved to me that this is what I want to do. The Section staff were very welcoming and treated me as an equal - I never felt uneasy and attended some interesting situations. I'm really looking forward to my next SCOPE on 24 / 25 October.

Today (Thurs 16) I sat the PCT. This is the 'obstacle course', where you push a trailer, run with a tyre, go over, under and around obstacles, over a few walls and along a balance beam, drag a 74kg dummy and run 200m. My goal for my age was 2 mins 44 secs. Doing it in 2.14 would earn what they call a P1 pass. I did it in 2.03 and was over the moon at that!

Oh well, now a week or so break and back into SCOPE. I've also joined the Papamoa Community Patrols (Nightowls - had training last night and will post up something about that later on) and are revising for the Police History and Organisation test so are keeping myself occupied.
